Looking to Ace Ping Pong or Conquer Cornhole at Coast at Lakeshore East?-image

Living at Coast at Lakeshore East isn't just about amazing apartments and skyline views. It’s also about community. And…some friendly competition! Among the amenities offered, our residents particularly enjoy the (mostly) friendly games of Ping Pong and Cornhole. Newbie? No sweat, we’ve got the DL on both games to get you started.  Ping Pong : Become a Ping Pong Pro  Basic Rules: Think fast reflexes and outsmarting your opponent. Ping Pong, also known as table tennis, is a fast-paced game that requires strategic thinking and fast moves. First to 11 points (and win by two points) takes the crown!   The Serve: The game starts with a serve. The ball must be thrown at least six inches in the air and hit so that it bounces once on the server's side and then on the opponent's side.   Rallies: Players must alternate hits. The ball must bounce on the opponent's side after each hit. If it fails to do so, the opponent scores a point.  Winning: Matches are usually played in best-of-five or best-of-seven games.     Pro Tips:   Grip it tight! Try a shakehand or penhold grip for more control  Stay light on your feet and bend those knees boss   Moderate trash-talk can lead to more wins    Cornhole : Weird name, lot’s of fun!     The Setup: It ’ s like beanbag toss, but cooler. Place two boards 27 feet apart. Each board has a hole near the top. Teammates stand on opposite ends.  Get tossing! Each player or team has four bags. Players alternate throws, aiming to get the bag into the hole (3points!) or on the board (1point!).  Scoring: A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while a bag on the board scores 1 point. The first player or team to reach 21 points wins the game.   Cancellation Scoring: Points are calculated by cancellation. If both teams score points in a round, the points cancel out, and the net difference is added to the leading team’s score.     Pro tips :  Use an underhand throw for better control.   Aim slightly above the hole to allow for the bag's trajectory.   Moderate trash-talk can lead to more wins     Coast at Lakeshore East: More Than Just Apartments     At Coast we’re known for our spacious apartments, stunning views, and killer community. Ping Pong and Cornhole are just two great examples of how our community unwinds, interacts as neighbors, and, frankly, earns elevator bragging rights.  Ready to join the fun?   Whether you’re an experienced player or new to these games, we invite you to join the fun and make the most of your living experience at Coast at Lakeshore East. Summer Grilling Inspiration at Coast at Lakeshore East-image

Summer has officially arrived at Coast at Lakeshore East, and it's time to take advantage of the warm weather by heading outdoors and firing up the grill! Our community grill is the perfect place to enjoy the sun, create delicious food, and connect with your neighbors. Whether you're a seasoned grill master or a grilling beginner, here are some inspirational ideas to help you create mouthwatering meals and unforgettable memories this summer!  Embrace Seasonal Ingredients   One of the best parts of summer grilling is the access to fresh, seasonal produce. Incorporate these vibrant ingredients into your meal plan with grill dishes that are both delicious and nutritious. Just think about the juicy tomatoes, crisp bell peppers, sweet corn, and flavorful herbs.   Visit local farmers' markets or nearby grocery stores to stock up on fresh, in-season fruits and vegetables .  Luckily, Chicago has some amazing seasonal farmer’s markets.  Logan Square Farmers Market , Green City Market , and Northcenter Town Square are just three out of the dozens of available summer farmer’s markets.    Simple and Delicious Marinades   A good marinade can transform your grilled dishes from ordinary to extraordinary. Mix up a few simple marinades using ingredients you likely already have in your pantry. Here are some easy ideas:  Citrus Herb Marinade: Combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, fresh thyme, and rosemary for a bright and zesty flavor.   Spicy BBQ Marinade: Mix your favorite BBQ sauce with a splash of hot sauce and a pinch of brown sugar for a sweet and spicy kick.  Asian-Inspired Marinade: Blend soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and a touch of honey for a savory and slightly sweet taste.   Mix Up Your Proteins   While burgers and hot dogs are classic grilling staples, don't be afraid to experiment with different proteins! Grilled chicken, steak, and seafood (like shrimp and salmon) are excellent choices that can add variety to your meals.   For vegetarian diets, there are a lot of great meat alternatives and protein rich vegetable that cook amazingly on the grill.  Foods like portobello mushrooms, tofu, veggie burgers, and other meat alternatives work great.  Veggie Delights   Grilled vegetables are not only healthy but also taste incredible. Try skewering a colorful array of vegetables, such as zucchini, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and red onions. While they taste great grilled on their own, try brushing them with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and grill until they're tender and slightly charred. For added flavor, finish with a drizzle of balsamic glaze or a sprinkle of fresh herbs.  Grilled veggies also pair great with other dishes like pasta, salads, or even on homemade pizzas!  Level up date night or your next get together with a side of delicious fresh produce.      Fruits on the Grill   Grilled fruit is a summertime treat that's often overlooked. Pineapple, peaches, and watermelon can all be grilled to enhance their natural sweetness. Serve them as a side dish, create a delicious kebab, use it to top salads, or make a sweet dessert by pairing your fruit with a scoop of ice cream.  If you want something a little more challenging, try something from this extensive list of ideas!  Fun with Foil Packs   If you’re worried about managing clean up at our community grill, foil packs are a fantastic way to cook with more minimal post-meal clean up. Simply place your choice of protein, vegetables, and seasonings in a foil packet, seal it tightly, and grill until everything is cooked through. Some delicious combinations include:  Shrimp, Corn, and Sausage: Add shrimp, sliced sausage, corn on the cob, and potatoes with a sprinkle of Cajun seasoning.   Chicken and Veggies: Combine chicken breasts with sliced bell peppers, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes, seasoned with Italian herbs.   Sweet Endings   Don't forget about dessert! Grilling can also be a fantastic way to create sweet treats. Try grilling slices of pound cake and topping them with grilled fruit and a dollop of whipped cream. More great options include s'mores, sweet pizzas, skewers, and more!    If you don’t want any of that smokey grill flavor in your dessert, you can also bring out your cast iron skillet to cook a deliciously warm dessert.  Skillets also keep gooey ingredients more contained for easier clean up!    Make It a Social Event   Grilling at Coast at Lakeshore East is more than just cooking; it's about community. Invite your neighbors, friends, and family to join you for a fun and relaxed gathering. Share your favorite recipes, swap grilling tips, and enjoy the experience that comes with cooking and eating together.  Tips for a Great Grilling Experience   Plan Ahead : Ensure you have all necessary ingredients and tools before heading to the grill.   Stay Safe: Always practice safe grilling techniques, including keeping a spray bottle of water handy to manage flare-ups.   Clean Up: Respect our community space by cleaning the grill and surrounding area after you're done.  This summer, let your creativity shine at the grill and make the most of the wonderful amenities at Coast at Lakeshore East. Happy grilling!

Celebrate March Madness From Your Chicago Apartment-image

We take our sports seriously in Chicago, and that energy is just as strong for college sports. Avid basketball fan or not, March Madness tends to be on everyone's radar. Competition is high across the United States as the top NCAA teams compete for the winning title. Essentially, in the world of American college sports, there is not much (if anything) more popular than March Madness.  For starters, let's look at the logistics of this tournament and its ties to Chicago. What Is March Madness? March Madness is a single-elimination tournament that takes place every March, with games all over the United States. Watchers enjoy the tournament because of the exciting wins, loses, and underdogs. The tournament always has a major upset, and there has never been a verified perfect bracket in NCAA history. How Do I Celebrate March Madness? Sports bars, communities, and households across the city will host events during this time. The Chicago community is lively, and you can always find something to do. Coast residents- keep an eye out to see if our community hosts any March Madness events this year. Otherwise, our community is a short drive from downtown Chicago and other popular spots! Renting in Chicago has some major social perks. Think about throwing a party in your own home! Our apartment community loves hosting, and apartment living does not hinder that. Utilize your apartment space to host an epic March-Madness themed get together! March Madness Party Ideas Create A Bracket First, the classic option is to throw together a bracket with your friends, family, or coworkers. While there has never been a winning bracket, there is always a chance that the first could be you! With brackets, you can lean into the competition or choose to collaborate. Digital or paper brackets are readily available online. Activities like brackets are simple to start, and it pairs well with different activities. Brackets are also an excellent way to connect with people remotely. Get connected with your friends across the nation-or even the world-from the comfort of your apartment home. In a lot of ways, brackets have the same level of fun as fantasy football leagues but without a lot of the pressure. Another important aspect is buy-in vs. no-buy-in. No-buy-in competitions can lower the stakes and appeal to more casual fans. However, a lot of people enjoy participating in a more competitive bracket. Consider the different fun options and pick something that works best with your circumstances, people, and setting. Host a Watch Party Watch parties are a fun, easy way to theme a get together. The fun thing is - they can be super simple or elaborate! As long as you have access to watch the game, your watch party is a guaranteed success. Potluck style dinners can help distribute the workload. Themes can also help bring an element of fun. From Bring-Your-Own-Pizza topping, finger foods, dip night, or Taco Tuesday - the options are endless. Virtual watch parties are another fun option if space or location is an issue. Also, consider checking with your apartment community. Residents can sometimes use clubhouses, conference rooms, or other community spaces to host private events. Play Some Games Keep your night interesting with some party games! If you're with basketball fanatics, NCAA basketball trivia could be the perfect way to spend time. You could make your own trivia questions or utilize some online content/articles. If your group isn't into trivia, try some classic or basketball themed party games! From adults-only to a family-oriented, you will definitely be able to find some creative, fun party games. Outdoor games can even be a fun way to spend time before or after a game. At the Grand Venetian, we have a sand volleyball court and a clubhouse! Reach out to the leasing center if you have any questions about setting up your own lawn games. Have Fun This March Overall, get creative and find a way to enjoy March Madness! Let us know how you decided to partake in the tournament this year.
